Description
This is an experiment that I've never seen: reproducing a famous painting "as is". Some statistics: 529.000 faces, 15 lights, 23 m. to render.
I think you all should know already the original picture (1931), currently at the N/Y M.O.M.A., and one of the most viewed images from the 20th century, but here's a link on the net: http://www.ricks.edu/Ricks/Employee/DavisR/Art/Dali,%20Persistence%20of%20Memory.JPG
The question, my friends, is: what would Dali think about if he could view my version of his work? Please tell me.

to add with the slew of already said things: this is probably the closest piece ive ever seen that resembles the original so very well, but i can tell the difference, one being that near everything is cleaner and the lines are more refined as well as the colors used are only off a notch at worst. but its still one of the best pieces ive seen as far as duplication goes. and May Dali Live Long in the Minds of the Future Generations!
GhostAngel

This is Beautiful, Perfect. I cant Believe anyone would Rank this less than a 10, How empty they must be inside not to see beauty for what it is, how sad. peace

When exactly did you sign your deal with the devil to produce such amazing stuff? Dali would probably LOVE what you did and I'm sure he would've enjoyed the flexibility of 3D tools after seeing what you've done with them. My hat's off to you!

I have beenstudying Dali for 10yrs as he is a big inspiration to me, I think he would lick the screen and masturbate to your render. It's wonderful. Ive been contemplating to do the Autumn Cannabalism, just hope I can reach the likeness you have reached.

It would be cool to see an animated version where the clock hands move and the ants scurry around, and the melty clock flaps in the wind. Could be done with FFD spacewarps...
Cyd
Thats flawless! I tried reproducing it awhile back and got nowhere near that quality. WOW

Um, ok this is a nice picture, i must say i cant see the beauty in this...nope. But 10?....if the original looks better then this i still wouldnt rate it more then 6...what does the image try to say anyway? if i new i might rate it higher for the background thought, but the image isnt good. and i saw in the comments that someone had been studying this dude for 10 years...i just thought GEEEEEZ, what conclusion did you make anyway? 10 years jesus! Anyway the link doesnt work, so i cant compare it.
