Description

I wanted to create an image with a more illustrative feel, like an image for a book cover or a poster. Not sure it's a success, but that's what I had in mind. Don't hesitate to watch fullsize. As usual, posed and set up in Daz Studio. Materials tweaking, lighting and rendering in Octane Render. Background made in Vue and Gimp. I used a HDRI and meshlights for lighting and pathtracing kernel with alpha channel. Postwork in Gimp for resizing, signature, background compositing and smoke. I think you realized the feel fine, great hard character and the BG is very fitting, Quite pulp-like other than Octane's penchant for utter realism regarding textures and clarity... maybe a little softer light?

This is my kind of illustration:) I love the "punch you in the face" style. The simple yet beautiful background really helps accentuate the character. My critique is that I would like to have seen the cigar glow & a glow from the end of the gun. A hot, burning color that contrasts everything else & draws the eye from one place to the other.
