Description
Captured yesterday, 5/30/12, around noon, in the vast parking lot of a Walmart Store in beautiful Long Beach, California.
Do ZOOM.
In my ongoing quest for these beauties, I recalled there were two each sitting at oppostie ends of this parking lot, easily accessible, with no surrounding barriers such as chainlink fences to prevent walking right up to them. In fact, I even went inside the structures and stood at their base in order to snap what I consider dramatic shots. Not to be overlooked are the several overhead lines, which add a sweeping elegance to the composition. In any event, a special trip worth taking on a very warm day. Hence, more photographs to come.
Since I took several pics from various near and far POVs, I thought of posting a collage, but that would have created a distraction between each foto, at least this time around, reducing their individual impact.
Like I said before, I get some of my best stuff in and from parking lots.
Adjo, thankx for clicking on, and for any and all favs and noncritical comments.

I agree, posting just this was a great idea, super find and work Harry!

Standing proudly against the blue sky! That is a LOT of power coursing through those lines, I can almost hear the crackle and buzz. There's a line of towers like these running on a path through my neighborhood (of course the lines they carry are always in the way of sunset shots!) Excellent shot, Harry; can't wait to see the shots from inside the tower looking up!

You did a fantastic job on this electric dedication Harry.

Superb, Harry! They look almost elegant!

I try to avoid these lines in photos and you head straight for them! These certainly are the largest I've seen, especially with all those lines...impressive structures. Makes' me think of "War of the Worlds".

I expected Denise to bow to these shots, but when Andrea calls electrical towers "superb," my man you have done it all! Non-city dwellers don't usually like these creatures. I agree, I want to see what you did underneath them. (I've gotten close to them here, but never underneath: I'm not afraid they'll fall on me, I'm just afraid I'll get zapped and come out speaking Martian. Besides, they make NOISE. Those big things make NOISE...) The wild thing in this photo is that they seem ultra thin. Something about your perspective and maybe your settings: They seem immensely thin. And they're huge---it takes a minute, but your pov gives us the trees at bottom so we can see just how towering they are. I don't think we have anything near this huge in Chicago. Also, mice sloping-off of the wires on the right. The wires are the 'continuum' of this shot. It's an imposing view, and elusively muscular. And the clear sky works for you all the way. (And I like that little flare on top! I'm a fan of flare. No other artistic medium gives "flare"---not one---so I just love it. It took movie directors some decades before they were willing to include lens flare; and once they allowed it, it became an expressive addition to film, if even a bit overused.) Looking forward to more...just don't kill yourself! Those things are alive, I'm pretty sure...

WOW! That is a lot of juice running through those lines. Wonderful shot and lovely sky!

Actually they do look like two very strong and elegant sculptures, very simple and very effective, Harry - you are absolutely right, no need for a collage. BB
