Description

this is the first week of painting what i see outdoors without use of photos. it like drawing from life. Forgot what they call it but i been thinking of doing it but never had time. So i thought I could do some in Mexico. I did about six of them and give two away. One was the sunset painting and the other one was on the back of the sunset. it was an attempt's of painting the side walk with the palms trees but all I had painted was the sidewalk which too the page. lol It came out looking abstract which was not too bad looking but it was not what i wanted. It harder to paint like this as I just use the paint to draw with. No drawing then painting. just jump right in and paint. I am back in Cajun land oh look at yesterday upload of the photos i took of the door as i was painting it. i did not use the photos as a referred but just what i see with my eyes. i still learning about this way of painting and i like it too. all thought I gee where paint in the studio needs to be done too. painted on thick paper made to be painted on with acrylic paint

I always like to see your paintings, and acrylic as well as watercolors are my favorite medium before I got spoiled with Photoshop and Painter LOL. Awesome work!

I think Andrea captured what you're saying very well. Painting my look...I know what you're talking about. Painting without a model, a photo, an image of some kind, is kind of like winging it. And esp if you're not working with a drawing underneath. Even many of the masters had drawings of some kind underneath. It's hard, and I take my hat off to you for doing it that way. And the result feels like what it is: Fresh, spontaneous, un-encumbered. You interpreted the entry way more than 'rendered' it. (Render in the old sense of making a realistic painting/drawing of something. Not the 3D software meaning.) You really have a marvelous way with light in your hues, and a free way of capturing the play in things. As well as the vividness of the greens & reds. etc. You made this very festive compared to the dark cavern of the door from the last upload. Very playful and very bright work, Jock. A pleasure to look at.

It is amazing, Jock:)I would like to have the courage to "jump" on the paper and to paint, right like you did....with so much freedom. The result is impressive and the colours are so luminous.I am sure that you show what was important for us to see. It is wonderfully done.
