Description

The “Gray Lady” CV-2 Lexington prepares to depart New Port News shipyard in 1938. The triple steam expansion engines will prove to be problematical for the use of these battle-cruisers that were completed as aircraft carriers in WWII. The engines were noisy and made it easier for submarines to find these 880 foot wonders from the early days of naval aviation. Can both fresh water and salt water flow from the same spring? TSE? I would never have guessed that technology was used for a high-speed warship. Oh well. Neat image.

I don't know the answer to your question.... I know the gators are fresh water and have been spotted in salt... they probably don't live long though - lol I think that bomb is bigger than the plane, I'd hate to be on the carrier when it lands = lol

Tend to agree with Django above. As for the size of the "Bomb," which is actually a torpedo, I think it is the proper size. Those babies were big and long.
