Description

Because there are none...Lol! Mono Lake is a terminal lake, which means it has no outlet to the sea. As a result the water is far to alkaline to support fish. These waters are inhabited by Brine Shrimp. To many a migratory birds delight they do not have to compete with fish for a meal. That doesn't stop folks from taking a canoe or kayak out for a spin. From the majestic mountain views to taking in some of the geology it makes for an enjoyable experience. Image scanned from a Matte finish photograph. Happy Birthday PK, wish you many more! Will go into much more on the geology of the area next post in this series. The link below goes to an previous post in this series. Thank you all that viewed today's earlier post, "Can you feel me now..." To the kind souls that leave their mark whether a comment, rating, or save the image as a fav, you are very much appreciated, thank you!!! thumb_2334658.jpg

I went several times to Mono Lake and could see big changes : it was free, you have to pay a fee nowadays ! the level of the lake is lower and lower...a pity. Super shot and thanks for sharing.

Another fabulous view of this very mysterious lake. I have never really understood why lakes would exist if they couldn't support fish..but that's the fisherman in me. Thank you for this wonderful birthday wish. You are a wonderful friend.
