I am 58 years young, live in Johannesburg, South Africa and I'm a true product of my continent. I love the bush, the animals, sunshine, sunsets - oh well, anything to do with nature. I am unmarried and have three sons - 37, 33 and 30 respectively and three granddaugters aged 12, 6 and 4 respectively and obviously the light of my life! Photography has always been a passion and I have loved it since I can remember. I was still using a SLR camera and only switched to digital only in late 2007! My other passion is travel and I have been lucky enough to have travelled fairly widely. There are however still many, many places I would love to visit "one day." I am truly an amateur photographer and do it merely as a hobby. So please be gentle when you comment on my work. :-) Thank you Piet, my dear friend, for convincing me to place my work on Renderosity. You owe me one! Hugs, Carin xx

I was at the Georgia Aquarium and they had African Penguins and I thought at first oh I never thought there would be penguins there lol. I guess when I think of Africa I think of big cats and tall giraffes and large elephants. They were fun to watch though. Nice capture.

Good composition and stark contrast in this black and white image of the unfortunately named Jackass Penguins, Carin. I don't know what the situation is in your case, but I would have to pay big money at a nature center or aquarium to see something similar.

Now what on earth did he ever do to you to deserve you calling this little guy a jackass? LOL! :P "My jackass ex-husband," I can certainly see. But a "jackass penguin?" I know, I know, but I couldn't resist. It IS a strange name! Terrific capture, Dierbaar. Jy is wonderlik!
MrsRatbag
Aren't they wonderful? I just love penguins of all types...unfortunately the zoo here hasn't got a very photographer-friendly habitat exhibit. Excellent capture!!

They are a hoot to watch!
Jay-el-Jay
I believe that they have that name because of the sounds that they make that sounds similar to a jackass.A very nice photo.
