Description
One of the many beautiful sights overlooking the Bodrum peninsula are the windmills. Facing northwest, to catch the coastal winds, these windmills are made of stone and lined with wooden planks.Built in the early 1700's, they were still in use until the mid 1970's as a means to grind flour for the local people. The dark 'scar' in the middle of the hill in the upper image is where they quarried the stone to build the windmills. Now in a rather sad state, they still make a striking impression, but plans are in place to restore them all to their former glory. As you can see, 1 down, 7 to go....... I look forward to seeing the windmills restored, not sure about the planned restaurant and gift shop though.......ahhh well, if that's the price...
Even in their run down state the windmills attract many coach loads of visitors every day, though some may come to see the structures themselves, the vast majority come for the views and I'll share those with you tomorrow.........

I'm sure they will look great restored, though maybe a slightly less bright 'cement'? To make them seem old... lol The Restaurant etc, groan.. What can I say.. Like you say, its the way the world has turned now (never used to be like it, I can't remember it so.... Certainly never this bad!) But fine shot mate.. Will 'TRY' and write today.. Need to brief you on a couple of things.. Rob
