My name is Tara, and I was born and raised in Washington State.
Â
In 2010 I married Bill (bmac62) and retired ... two of the best choices I ever made! :)
Â
In March, 2013, we sold our home in Washington and went on the road in our RV full time. What a blast! There is so much world out there to see!
After traveling around the West for a few years, we got rid of the motorhome and are now spending winters in deep-south Texas and summers in Washington State. Spring and fall finds us visiting whichever place strikes our fancy at the time!

Very cool photo Tara I must be a touch blind, I see some fantastic art on the building, along with a cool water tower. The etched glass at the bus stop is coolif there is something else, I fail to really see it

I'm not looking for anything specific ... just your different impressions ... what stands out and catches your eye. :)

The giant sized faces on the old factory building immediately got my attention...particularly the bug eyed guy:) Quite a mixture of places, things and people.

Contrasts - new and old, warm and cool colours, progress and decay. I also notice that the people look oddly separate and pensive.

Not sure if it's them, but it looks like Andy Warhola and Charles Chaplin. And a rather handsome guy in a grey hoodie staring back at you.

The first thing I saw was Warhol, and then the repeating patterns of rectangles of all sizes and the way the little windows are echoed in the glass of the bus stop. Then even smaller ones in the facade above the big faces. It would make a great drawing.

It looks a busy place to me but in need of some TLC!

Tara, I see art work, different textures on the buildings, waves on the glass and overall a great view of ask old neighborhood. Nice shot.

Great urban capture!! I see an old brick wall seemingly standing on its own in the upper left hand corner in contrast to the freshly painted apartment building behind it. And of course the really cool wall art that really stands out. I also see Old town Seattle that links us to the past.

I've parked in that very lot a time or two...great urban shot!

Excellent shot Tara, for me I see the remnants of a demolished annex on the yellow building, a little bit of history stopped in time at your hand

The first thing that struck me were the large portraits in B/W... Secondly, the total indifference of the people who are waiting for the bus! Great shot! :)

great street shot - full of moving , life and busy people!

This is very interesting in its variations. The depth of the bus stop to the crumbling buidings and water tower is excellent in and of itself. The faces on the wall do jump out at you first. And I'm pretty sure that's not Andy Warhol. In fact it looked like a woman to me. The other face reminds me of Bruce Springstein, but I don't think that's him either. The diverse figures at the bus stop bring this to life. Cool photo. The last thin I noticed is that gas was just over $3, that's an improvement. LOL!

this is wonderful

I understand why Andrea saw Warhol, but it's definitely not Warhol. (If it is, it's a doctored photo.) But the faces are striking, as is the confluence of lots of little detail, against a backdrop of a simple old street scene. It's a scene that, were it not filled with galleries, could just as well be a warehouse area or an old run down neighborhood. (A number of art neighborhoods pick these places as their home, from NY's Soho to Chicago's "SuHu" (Superior and Huron Streets) and so on. Gritty, and cheap for making galleries, studios, lofts, etc.) Your capture makes no bows to beauty, but rather gets just what one sees as they enter the street. It's honest. And the repetition of windows, markers, debris, people, big photos, etc etc, make it a place that---where we there---would no doubt come alive. A truthful capture of a complex place. Nothing done to glamorize it, it's busy, hectic, spare, decayed and alive. I'd love to see the place one day.

I remember very well that place

Well, at first I thought I saw Andy staring at me..... maybe it is, maybe it isn't, but whatever the case, I love this shot, Tara! So full of life, hustle, bustle, color, textures..... What's not to love? It's like a candy store for the eyes!

Great shot!

Gee Tara, first you had me zoom, which I seldom do, then I looked and looked, and saw what I have seen many times in the past, in the early 60's in any rundown neighborhood. I saw the water tower (seen many of those from hotel rooms in rundown neighborhoods in Buffalo and other Eastern cities), looked at the faces and thought I recognized one, but can't put a name to it. Then I looked for you or Bill and didn't see you. Then I came to the conclusion that if this is an area with high end art galleries, fancy shops etc. somebody has the gift of gab. Those are the entrepreneurs that have the ability to make money, no matter what they do. BTW, it looks cold and like it is about to rain, something to think about right now while we are having a real warm spell (112F today).

I saw the price of gas, which seems to be a lot less than I pay here!!! lol

I see a gas station, (cheaper than the UK by miles!) Graffiti, some people would say some of its art.. Different people, different views.. lol I see allot of broken windows, buildings that could need renovation and/or knocking down.. And a bus shelter.. I'm sure, quite sure other people see all that as nice or art or whatever they'd like to call it but the fact remains, thats what it is... You made people look thats for sure, I spent nearly 15 minutes looking for something that I could not see.. lol Beachzz sums it up I think LOL Rob
