Such a wild paint job! With plain plane paint it looks totally different! :D (Well, I couldn't very well say "Oooooohh! Shiny!")

Nice photo, Bill. It feels like I'm there in the museum with you. I wonder what it cost to bring the plane back? And to restore it? And what caused the crash? It raises a lot of questions. Thanks for commenting my images! Keep up the good work! :-)

Looks like a 3rd Pursuit Squadron AVG, 'Hells Angels'...lots of planes had the sharks teeth but they seem best suited to the P-40's.Much prefer aircraft that aren't polished to a mirror finish, this is a belter...cheers Bill..

OOOOOh! Shiny! LOLOL! It is an amazing paint job, very much like that boat in Edmonds marina that I posted yonks ago... I can just imagine this "predator" haunting the skies. Excellent capture, Bill!

I was supposed to leave, but I came back to comment on this, because I know how much you love planes and because this is such a fun and amazing creature. You caught it like a big monster jutting into the room and ready to lunge to the other side. You gave us all the hues---it's really painted to a tee!---and some very fine lighting around it (one of your specialties, ie, capturing museum lighting), and you've lined up the propellers and banner and cross-bar (for lights) in perfect compositional fashion. A lotta lines in this thing...but the plane's the thing, and it's a stunner. I'll read about it later, but you sure gave it voice for us, here. Fun and beautiful all at once.

Yikes! - shark alert! Jeff used to have this one in his toy collection, made from plastic and painted just like this (other planes were made from Balsa wood) great lighting and details, BB

Really nice close up Bill. It's so good to see these recovered aircraft rebuilt to either flying condition or static.

Nice capture Bill. When I see a P-40 with that paint scheme, and they usually do have that shark mouth painted on their nose, I always think about the American Volunteer Group of General Chenault.

Great shot! Always loved the P-40... it's gotta be the most aggresive, "I'm a fighter" - looking plane ever built.
