Description

This is one of the ancient Bell Caves at Beit Guvrin in Israel. The earliest written record of Maresha (Beit Guvrin) was as a city in ancient Judah. After the destruction of the First Temple the city of Maresha became part of the Edomite kingdom. In the late Persian period a Sidonian community settled in Maresha, and the city is mentioned in the Zenon Papyri (259 BCE). There is a temperature drop of an approx 10 degrees celsius, waking in from outside to inside.

Wow! This is amazing. At first glance, it looks like some of the abstract fractals you see on Rendo! Love the tones and textures! Excellent shot!

Superb capture! Light is great. Maybe I'm wrong, but I think this cave was the location of the first scenes of "Jesus Christ Superstar"

How exciting to be inside taking this shot! I am amazed there is such beautiful light shining in. When I see such formations I always wonder what caused their formation. Fascinating.
