Here's looking north through the south gate towards the location of my previous post (Cranes - http://www.renderosity.com/mod/gallery/index.php?image_id=2340985 ). I zoomed in a bit to focus on the pillars forming the first and second floors. Vertical bolts can be seen at the tops of the closest pillars. There are attachment points (small black rectangles) on the upper sides of the pillars. To the left, a wall section has been erected. Along its upper edge are reinforcing irons for attachment of a third storey wall section.
I didn't notice until today - the crow flying past the talest pillar!
Looking at the beams on the trailer, one can see the beams are bending slightly under their weight. When lifted in place, the bend vanishes. This is not something one associates with reinforced concrete, but rather with iron beams.
Bill - thanks for the Swedish Buiding Codes in English. I've looked at them. They're not as tough as in California, but that's for obvious reasons - California has a lot of quakes, some very strong (like Loma Prieta, Oct. 17, 1989).
I wouldn't like to sit in a crane, or even a crane truck, in an earth quake.
Thanks for all the comments, folks! I have some 3 or 4 more photos from this photo shoot.
Enjoy!
