Description

I believe that this photo can give an idea of the hot days around the summer solstice here in Padova. The heat wave nicknamed Scipio the African is weakening its grip on northern Italy, and a wave of bad weather, with minor tornados and hail hit the west, destroying some of Piedmont vineyards. Today, we are waiting for it in Veneto, hoping it won't destroy our vineyards, the peach trees and our crops of maize and wheat. Anyway, this photo was taken in Patrick's property; the cat is the female of a pair of twins. The rose and the other plants hide partially a concrete post carrying electricity to Patrick's house. Milena, Patrick's wife, dubbed the colors of this image 'lisergic', an adjective I concur on, and chose it for her desktop screen. Thanks for your kind comments.

this almost feels like a scene out of a tale or out of myth; the cat gives it a special feeling, as does its presence behind that front bush and the brightly highlighted roses. Your roses, in this piece, seem almost 'thought' into your image, they have deep reddish-pinks, but also almost ghostly white highlights. And your background is lit by a sun-filled yellowish undertone; and the receding trees (until we get to a line in the back) make it feel like this is a glimpse into something that goes on well beyond the frame. You moved from spring, in your last series, to summer in this one; and this series is awash in radiations of sun-bleached greens yellows and of course reds, etc, all emanating from your roses. And if by "lisergic," Patrick's wife meant "lysergic," as in LSD, well it certainly has a heightened sense of hue and light, like a drug induced experience. It also has a sense of light from a heart induced experience. Another luminous entry from you, in this eye-popping series.

the scent of roses on the hot summer air... the light buzz of bees, birds chirping, and the cat, not sure whether to lay down and have a snooze, or to go exploring... probably snooze first... awesome image!

Such gorgeous flowers and kitty. The whole scene looks lush and lovely. I think we are having the same weather, rain and tornadoes. I hope it does not get your crops. We have not crops just tourists. :)
