My name is Tara, and I was born and raised in Washington State.
Â
In 2010 I married Bill (bmac62) and retired ... two of the best choices I ever made! :)
Â
In March, 2013, we sold our home in Washington and went on the road in our RV full time. What a blast! There is so much world out there to see!
After traveling around the West for a few years, we got rid of the motorhome and are now spending winters in deep-south Texas and summers in Washington State. Spring and fall finds us visiting whichever place strikes our fancy at the time!

That's just tooo cool, Tara! The contrast of the cool reflection with the warm tones of the building are a real treat.... It's kinda like a chocolate milkshake for the eyes.... ;-D

This is one cool capture! Superb reflections and the most perfect lighting in this one! I too really like the contrast in your composition! That is really creative and original indeed!

Wow, how cool is this? Love that wavy reflection, and the carved details in the building itself...what a beauty!

a piece of art in itself. Really, it could be a piece of glass-art, with various images painted into the panes. A beautiful miniature from anything but a miniature building...I'll say more about your beautiful pic, but maybe this is worth repeating: The Fisher---along with the Monadnock and Old Colony and other old whales in this part of the South Loop---used to sit in grime and disrepair next to other old whales in grime and disrepair. And this is how I studied them 'back in the day' (the 70s). And the Fisher seemed sad, back then, with its delicate (Gothic) tracery half hidden behind a badly soiled facade. It was like looking at treasures under soiled glass. I'd always walk up to it and think, "one day they'll clean you up, you'll see..." In fact---and this should interest you as you've walked these streets many times---that whole district was dank and dingy back then; like walking in some abandoned city, even though there was bustling work there. You came to these at such a better time... But the Fisher would be thrilled at your rendition: at capturing one set of panes and nothing else, at treating it like an old piece of stained glass, and at that twisted line of windows in its central panes ('chicago' windows at that, perfect for the time): It's like you moved buildings around just to get this convergence. And you got that modern building in the left panes too, and you framed it with one of those finials at the bottom (finial from the same root as "finish," as in the end to an arch or peak, in case you didn't know); and that, ba-da-boom, atop that old gothic lettering. Perfection. It's beautiful. You made the building very, very happy. A wonderful artpiece from a very large structure. Really fine-tuned seeing.

Excellent. The wavy reflection, the elegant molding & the ornate lettering all combine so well in a kind of art nouveau style - well seen & a fine composition...

What a shot! If I take a particular route to work, I actually catch the train right by this building and I never get tired of seeing it. I prefer seeing it on non-work days, however! And this was taken on such a non-work day, which is perfect. I love the reflection; it's so shimmery and almost liquid. Perfect! The colors are so nicely rich and warm too. I'm hoping to get my computer back today, and when/if I do, I plan on catching up! I'm glad to see this one shot tough...this is amazing. You make Chicago look so nice and new!

Ah, fine stuff. I took and maybe posted this part of the same building but never noticed that beautiful little architectural detail over the door. Thanks for showing me what I missed. And the reflections....sheesh...
