Description
As promised, a closer look at some of the strange eroded sandstone formations that were a part of the scene I posted yesterday at Shore Acres State Park. These look sinister & Gigeresque to me. I may post one more even closer view of one of these formations tomorrow if there seems to be any interest. Otherwise, I have many more photos from my Oregon coast trip to share...

Earth is so full of alien landscapes and I'll never tire of seeing interesting geological formations like these! I have to say that this is one amazing piece of photography; I can stare at it for hours on end, always seeing something different in it. I think that my exposure to science fiction at an early age has allowed me to be able to stop and look at the world as it is: all of the best science fiction is based on reality, and when you see stuff like this, you see just how interesting reality is! This is like the geological version of an insect species: something that makes perfect sense, but doesn't actually make reference to the familiar and mundane world. As a result, the mundane, familiar world does shrink, but the real world grows and reveals just how interesting it is.

Many years ago I visited Coos Bay, and saw some incredible stone formations; it must have been at this location. Great to have an idea of where I was since I can't remember much from those days! Beautiful capture and postwork!

This is fabulous, Claude. The composition is great, which gives the image "good bones," and your postwork is spectacular. There's something just right about this style for you, like you've found a way to express something so absolutely authentic that it isn't questionable. This is exciting stuff!
