Description

Follow up post to the one a few moments ago, best if you click the link below and start there. My son was quite fearful of that thundering surf upon moving here last June. Preferring the safe harbor of these temporary lagoons left by the tide. You can't see the wave slope down to the surf from here. That's just how high the ridge of sand has been deposited along the beach from the cresting waves. Of course he did get over that fear and even catches smelt by hand in the rolling wake of the wave slopes. To the kind souls that leave their mark whether a comment, rating, or save the image as a fav, you are very much appreciated, thank you!!! Thank you all that viewed my last image below. thumb_2344245.jpg

Terrific pic, Dana! We have the same feature here on our sandy shore, but not on this vast scale.

We too live by the sea, and treat it with the greatest respect. I have seen many silly fatal mistakes made by people thinking they can outrace the incoming tide round sandbanks. I'm glad your son overcame his fear. The sea is Big!

I'm glad your son got over his fear! It does take a lot of courage to overcome something like that. Nevertheless as long as he remembers that water can be dangerous if not carefully "gone about". Excellent capture of the vastness of this beautiful body of water!

You have the best of both worlds here with the safe lagoon to play in and the surf for when they are older. A lovely capture and I can see how these two photos show that large sand bar now. I wonder if it will disappear in the winter.
