Description

... tasting much sweeter than wine! (lyrics by the Beatles, also made into a movie with the same title) *** It's still Winter and the Candelabra succulents are in full bloom right now, also enjoyed by this little Honey-eater. I almost overlooked him in his green camouflage AND WITHOUT MY SPECS! for the first time, since my second eye surgery - all is well, just a bit sore, as to be expected. I have been in recovery mode and will comment again more regularly, when all is back to normal ... Cheers and thanks for your patience Brigitte

I adore that long shot of the garden with the vibrant torches... but the treat of seeing that bird on the stalk is such a thrill. I'm used to seeing the hummingbirds do this with my aloe blooms but I've never seen a bird like this sipping from a droopping bell-shaped flower. So glad you are doing better and recovering nicely.

Nice catch, I probably would have missed it, eye surgery or not. I think what you call candelabra succulents is the same as a plan that is fairly common around here that we call red hot pokers, though not sure. My wife hates them for some reason, but I like them. Good luck with your continued recovery...

(old joke.... a man comes back from the doctor, his wife asks him how the exam went... the man replies "aahh, that Doc's an idiot... he said I had a cataract... I kept telling him No, I've got a Lincoln...ba dum... sching..)

Superb captures of your garden and the little honey eater. He is very cute. Your garden is looking very lush for the middle of winter too. I am so glad that your 2nd eye surgery has gone well and I hope you soon get back to normal again.

Great capture! I think your plants are relatives of Aloe vera, they have the same kind of flower and leaf. So the bird must be in search of bees, because they used to get into the flowers searching for food. I hope you're feeling better, and that you will get well soon!

Such a fantastic capture, dear Brigitte. For me even more special, because this plant is also currently in my house flourishes. But it's such a small sample in comparison to your whole big bunch of these. Surpassingly beautiful is this picture series. And the bird is very so special to see on it. And that in your winter, how is that possible? I sure would love your garden, it must be a little paradise, Brigitchen. Take care, and have a speedy recovery. You are SO brave, dear friend!

I also had to look 2x before I saw the little bird. Honey has a downside, however. He glued the mouth and me silenced wink And Brigitte ... YOUR health is at first point All the good Julchen

Wow what a wonderul set of pictures. What gorgeous plants and landscape. The little bird looks like he is really enjoying his refreshing honey. Happy to hear you are on the mend. Cudos to your son,he must of been hurting to see his Mom suffer from poor eye sight. How thoughtful of him to care sooooo much.

An excellent photo of the Candelabra and a extra bonus to catch the Honey-Eater in there. Nice to know that your eye is improving!
