Description

There's been illness in my family, so I couldn't be here. I hope to be back soon. Re my dedis: I apologize for my promises and delays. I never intended that to happen, and I promise to post them when I return. Finally, it was a joy to visit your galleries tonight. I miss it when I'm not here...
* * * Please see Full-Size (Lake Michigan on a windy day!) Joy, inspiration and love to you all and thank you for coming to my gallery Mark

Great color and light. Action of water is great, too! Really dramatic, indeed.

Mark...this picture is a knockout! I mean a homerun...right out of the park. Now we haven't been seeing many of those up here lately...the Seattle Mariners haven't been hitting well at home for quite some time;-) But the way you've captured and postworked light on, into and through these choppy waves is mighty impressive. The waves seem confused. Hey, should we go north, south, east or west? How about all four directions at once? Bottom line, I love this photo!

Holy cow! That's amazing. I LOVE those colors! The yellows and greens are just gorgeous. I remember the algae along the shore when I was there, so I assume you really do see those magnificant colors when the waves get high. Superb capture!

Wow, what really amazes me here is the depth of colors that you have captured. Shooting just a bit away from the sun allowed great light penetration but also created superb shadow depth increasing the overall richness of the scene.

I sincerely hope the illness is countered as quickly and painlessly as possible Mark! This photo keys right into my senses because I love looking at water and waves with the sun low in the horizon which I believe was the case here. The bright sun streaming through the water produces a multitude of colors, moreso than I have ever captured in photos I have done in very similar situations. I have never caught such a wide range in color as you have here, from the deep emeralds in the distant wavetops to the rich golden tones in the foreground. Your photo proves once again that some of the most beautiful sights in nature are also some of the most transient! Well done!

You really show and capture many of the moods of this fascinating lake so beautifully. Wonderful translucent peaceful colors amidst those restless waters. Very sorry to hear you have been dealing with family illness and I do hope all will be fine. Miss you. CC

I have to agree with all the wows. You've really captured the turbulence of these waves magnificently & the golden reflections are a fine bonus. Outstanding...

First of all Mark let me express my deep concern about the illness and your family. I'll be sure and keep you and your entire family in my prayers during this time, and I hope they can feel better soon. The most important thing now is for you to be with them to show them the love and care they need. You're such a kind and compassionate man and I'm sure they will be blessed by your presence. As for this amazing photo I can only respond as everyone else has here by saying (WOW). To say these are dramatic waters is almost an understatement as you can feel the raw power and energy from the waves crashing about. Truly a magnificent capture and one I'm delighted you shared with us.

Real life is always more important. You are missed here too though.. I hope things get better soon. This is a stunning image.. Like life at time, tempestuous, but also there is light shining through creating beauty in the turmoil.

I echo the host of wows and laudatory comments preceding mine in this fabulously dramatic water scene, Mark. The colors, contrasts, textures and sidelighting make for a stunning image, worthy of many of the oil paintings I've seen in the past. Not bad for a NIkon 2-megapixel camera. And the horizon line is letter perfect. Mine are usually askew and have to be corrected. Sorry about the illness in your family, probably your sister.

This really is a fabulous and magical capture. The lake is really talking to me. I love how the waves are all higgledy piggeldy and not at all orderly and you have captured the sunlight brilliantly giving the waves a wonderful variety of colour and dimension. An outstanding work and well worth a visit to the shore in the wind. I am sorry to hear that you have illness in your family but hope they will be well soon.

WOW! I must have been away from RR, when you posted this, Mark. I simply adore this shot and you know it as I have painted it. But i saw it anyway as i have faved it long time ago. I should have refered to this one when I uploaded my waves.
