Description

Well 'Sally B' seemed to go down well, and I've got a couple more of her just as big for later ( or emergency, in case Rob goes for revenge! sorry about that mate :-) A few of you have expressed a liking and interest in the reenactors who frequent Duxford.Well they don't just dress the part, they live it...not just period clothes but the whole 'nine yards'.... Have put this in Aviation because they're RAF and if it HAS to have planes...there in the background.

I have a huge interest in reenacting and think the men and women do a wonderful job when it comes to accuracy and keeping the spirit of what have must have been like back then alive today. Wonderful image Neil, I love the 'Scramble' sign and cricket bats against the table :)

Is that turqoise tent correct for a reenactment? It looks the wrong color. At first I thought this was an "Occupy" movement protesting the air show (due to the tent's color, and the white overalls), until I read your text! Silly me! I now see Snoopy, and is that the Red Baron just exiting the out house? And.... Silliness aside, this is quite interesting. I've sometimes wondered where the pilots and other staff lived during WWII, before the vast expansion of the airfields. So, it was in tents. What I don't get is, who wore those white over-alls? Plane service crews? Cooks? The rest is quite self explanatory - radio, cricket clubs, chess set, folding furniture, back packs, duffle bags, the all important tea cups/mugs, etc.... I can imagine it pretty dredful living during rain storms and winter time (wet, damp and cold). Very good photo/pano (no stitching visible). Very good you posted this. It reminds us of the actual conditions these people had to live under. A good reminder for people today how it was back then! It's difficult for today's spoilt people to understand this without seeing it. Keep up the good work! :-)

Well T-rex, Pilots certainly in 1939-40 wore white overalls.. They changed, to the more famous traditional leathers, boots etc in the 40's.. Check out some old photos.. In fact I believe some pilots still wore them very late in the war.. Great panorama once again main! Full widescreen.. Full of details and stuff going on, as there was! lol No, I wasn't gonna go for revenge .....this time! lol I have a Waddo shot for today! Great work Neil.. Rob
