Hi, I'm Marilyn. Â I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile. Â It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here. Â I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends. Â Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time. Â Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!! Â Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet. Â You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long. Â Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

(SIGH)...Due to our current drought the only beautiful flowers I get to see this year is when folks such as yourself posts theirs as mine have become a victim of this heat and lack of rain we are experiencing...Though my only one that is thriving is my Moon Flowers which are a tropical plant that the hotter the better..Just in the past week they have grown tremendously..If I can get a decent picture of them using my cellphone I'll then post to show what I mean in case you or others do not know what they are...(smiles)..

How gorgeous they are together! Stung, huh? That's shame for you and the bees too!

A plethora you say... I see a natural bouquet. :-) Fabulous, vibrant photo.

best to watch out for bees as they may be killer bees

Love the composition and vibrant colors! Sorry to hear about the bee stings. Yikes!

Oh, I love a plethora of anything, those are better than bevies and I love a good bevy of something beautiful...anyway, all word-play aside, this is stunning. I gotta say that the main thing that grabbed me is the composition itself. I love the fact that it's off center. It seems more organic that way, more natural and un-planned. Nature photography is always perfect when it has that natural vibe to it and this has that natural vibe. I'm sorry to hear about the stings; I wonder if bees are like their Chicago yellow-jacket cousins. If so, one way to avoid getting stung is to buy a bottle of Snapple brand peach tea or Arizona brand Sweet Tea, and then leave the bottle/can open, in your neighbor's yard. They'll go there and leave you alone. Or something like that. This is brilliant. I love the surprising little details hidden in the shapes of the smaller flowers.

I loved this shot not only for the saturated bursting poppies, but for all that primal growth you captured around them. It's a snaking primal affair, behind the flowers (and around them), and the violet, red and blue hues back there are wonderful counterpoint. Also you dared not to give your 'stars' (the poppies) center billing: You left them to a side, which means you're giving all kinds of other voices here. More vivid primal work from you...
