Description

Campanula rotundifolia Growing in the walls of Corfe Castle. These hardy little plants grow in dry grassy places often on poor shallow soils, as here. The round leaves from which the plant gets is name are usually withered by the time the flowers open, leaving the very narrow leaves on the wiry stems that you see here. This is one of my most favourite wild flowers!

Wonderful capture of this hardy little survivor. It is great to see them not only growing but florishing in such an unlikely place.

I so much enjoyed your posts of Corfe Castle... I spent some time yesterday exploring the link you sent and following-up with more links and web searches on my own... if I ever make it back to England again I have decided your area is a must see! You are quite the travel ambassador!

Super textures, and quite a contrast, colorwise, compared to the castle and background.

They are very nice but can be hard to photograph in a wind, and it is very windy in the only place that I seem to find these, in the mountains near Abraham Lake in Alberta. I know they are common but I just don't seem to see them anywhere else. Anyway, very nice shot!

Ww have something similar in the rugged area's along the roadside. My Father used to call them bluebells. They look so petite and pretty and yet are very hardy. Lovely shot of these cute little Bells Andrea.
