Description
A render of a leaf of the carnivorous plant Sundew. It was a struggle to model all those tentacles but I am quite pleased with the result. It was also the first time I used the 3d-paint feature in Carrara 8. It was very easy to create the color gradient on the tentacles.

Wow! Beautiful! Love th use of the hair, it makes this so much more realistic. From the first look, I was sure that the tentacles were actually surface-replicated, not modeled. Wow! That must have taken a LOT of work!!! I am in awe of your patience! Beautiful shading work, too. I love the blurred out, bokeh effect in the background, it adds so much realism to this image. Bravo!

Rock and roll! This is an excellent model and render. I think people don't realize how much work it can sometimes take to do this stuff.

Thx. That's why it shows only one leaf!

Ultra-realistic! Excellent modelling, texturing and lighting skills here!

I hope that you didn't model each tentacle separately. You can use duplicate I beleive and then just bend each copy to your liking after placing it.
Sopher
Something like that. I copied one many times and then fused them individually to the leaf.

Bravo for taking on this model and finishing - its beautiful and very pleasing, and great to see unusual subjects done with panache!
