Description
this was the race car that I was involved with for nearly about 3 years. I would take pictures and clean the car during races after time trials
this is a picture of a picture
Jimmy Finger of Austin,TX was the driver and won the state championship several times. I did a search on Finger and the net info is not showing him to have won any races. I personally seen him take the victor's lap at least twice. it did not show him running in a nascar race also, but I know he did because he was driving a Buick by Buddy Baker.it was a poor showing as the car was just too slow. I done work on it also. one weekend he qualified on a Saturday morning for a Sunday race at College station and we went to Austin to race also on a short track Saturday night then drove back to College Station.
the car owners agreed to sell the other one his interest in the car. anyway the son raced the car at College Station and in a wreck he killed another driver destroying the Camaro
it had a Chevy 302 bored out to 330 cubic inches .it was running with more than 800 hp. on the straightaway it would do 195 MPH, just below Nascar speeds of 212MPH at that time

So in other words you were part of his pit crew then...or a maintenance kinda guy which places you in the pits during the events...Wow...How cool was that!?...(smiles)..

Beautiful looking race car... sad to hear about the death it was involved in. I'm a huge Nascar fan and any death is terrible.

Impressive car. I did the time trials at our local speedway in Texas. My husband and I bought used cars, rebuilt them for the raceway, ran them for the first place trophy and as soon as we got the trophy we'd sell the car at a profit and buy another... Our raceway was owned by Don Gay. And here in Sacramento, I go to an auto repair shop downtown owned by a guy who used to work on Don's cars. :-) Small world.

I live a short distance south of The Pocono Raceway. But I'm not into NASCAR or anything. Doesn't mean I wouldn't want to take one of them for a rip around the track though.
