Description
From a gloomy bloom to a bright and happy one, captured 7/11/12, looking up at the sky, early on a very overcast but bright morning, three blocks from my humble haven.
Most cool via ZOOM.
Actually, it's the magic of very intensive postwork, sans filters, with a lot of light, color and contrast manipulation.
Of course, there will be some out there who would still prefer the original, on top, so wadda ya gonna do?
And, if I'm any judge of flora, that is a variety of sunflower I suspect.
Ciao, thankx for dropping in, and for any and all favs and noncritical comments.

I've looked at this several times now, and I'm glad I can comment while it's still fresh for you...at last we get a glimpse of what you do when you say you've postworked something because of difficult lighting conditions, bad weather, etc. A sterling piece of clarifying, vivifying, bringing out the colors hidden inside the shadow, etc. I'm a big fan of artists showing these sides of their work, and you confirm what I suspected all along---ie, how very fine you are at coaxing a work's "inner essence" out of a photo that's compromised due to bad weather, difficult angles, etc etc. It shows how much you concentrate on detail as well as the overall. It looks like exacting work, and I'm really glad you posted this. (And yeah, this couldn't be any other than a sunflower: I don't know very many flowers, but that one I know. Van Gogh painted them enough for me to never forget the little buggers. Really fine work!)

Sunflowers are always so happy (in my humble opinion) no matter the weather or the lighting. The only time they ever hang their heads is when it is time to give up those delicious seeds! Great work, Harry. Appreciate the comparison!
