Description

I first visited Port Orford about 30 years ago. At that time, it was completely shrouded in fog & the strange rock formations on the beach looked like something out of a horror movie. Which was fine with me, because I loved horror movies as a kid & I found the atmosphere fascinating & memorable. When I returned a few weeks ago, it was sunny & bright & while the rock formations were still unique & interesting, they just didn't have the same magic quality to them... According to the town's official website, Port Orford is "the oldest town on the Oregon Coast and the most westerly in the 48 states. We are a working fishing port, with an active - and talented - art community, and a great place for visitors who want to enjoy spectacular natural beauty without the crowds." Please zoom

I love the quality of that blue you've gotten with this. What a gorgeous color! Shade and intensity are perfect. Love the composition, too. It makes me feel like I'm standing there! (All this needs is a 2 degree counter clockwise rotation to straighten the horizon.)

Tara - Much thanks for pointing out the angled horizon - I usually remember to straighten it, but this one slipped by me somehow. It's fixed now, though may require a page refresh for anyone looking at it a second time. And, by the way, 2 degrees was exactly right...

Just gorgeous; I particularly like that little tidepool toward the back...
