Description

A rider in the 4th of July parade this year in Ashland, Oregon. My wife & I marched in the parade as well, with the county Democratic Party & our contingent received a lot of cheers & applause as we passed the thousands of onlookers. Not surprising, as Ashland is a very liberal, progressive town, with a university, Shakespeare festival, lots of artists & musicians, organic food restaurants, etc. And there were lots of American flags to demonstrate that liberals can be just as patriotic as conservatives. There are many in the right wing who try to paint liberals as "anti-American", which I find repugnant. One can have a different point of view & criticize their country when they feel it has made mistakes without being "anti-American" - I've always disliked those mindless, jingoistic slogans like "My country right or wrong" & "America - love it or leave it"... Much to my family's dismay, I have always been able to love without reserve and still see and recognize flaws in that loved entity. I do love my country regardless, however, In saying that I am in no way saying its perfect; it says I love it like my children. I will defend it, protect it, stand up for it against all others and regardless of the shenanigans it pulls, I wouldn't trade it for any other county on earth. Excellent shot and once again, your postwork is wonderful.
