I'm not sure what all to say about myself, I live in Ann Arbor, Michigan (USA) and work as a graphic designer/computer technician for a print shop. I have a BS in Historic Preservation, but wasn't willing to go on for a Master's Degree, nor was I interested in teaching, so I found another career. I discovered Bryce way back when version 1 came out, but I didn't really get serious about the program, or 3D art in general, until a few years ago. When I'm not in front of the computer, I'm either making costumes or wearing them to a renaissance festival, or building a new rock-sculpture, or possibly wandering with a camera.
When I'm not making something, odds are I'm reading from my far too wide range of interests: Astronomy, Cosmology, Physics, Archeology, Anthropology, History, Current Events, NASA (of course) and anything else that happens to catch my attention. It's really hard to find enough time to do all of the things I want to be doing! What drew me to Renderosity is the many excellent artists who continue to inspire me to push myself as an artist. More recently I've added a selection of stuff to another online gallery location:http://nefariousdro.deviantart.com/Â

Cool! I'm not sure "Dandy" is the word I would use.

I want to know this character! Your description is quite intriguing on countless levels, especially since I've recently re-re-re-read one of my favorite stories by James Tiptree Jr. The story in question is "The Milk of Paradise" if you're at all interested. It's an odd tale that first appeared in Harlan Ellison's anthology Again, Dangerous Visions. It has appeared--as well--in various Tiptree-dedicated anthologies. Anyway, I thought of that story, as it's about a human who went native, so to speak, among a race of aliens who were decidedly non-anthropomorphic in shape. The character's clothing choices marked his preference to alien things, rather than the human things everyone told him he should appreciate. And so this all brings me to this image. The idea of a human "going native" among goblins makes perfect sense and is full of anthropological (xenological?) interest, and to top it off, the costume modeled here is quite a detailed and exquisite piece of workmanship. I love the details, the earthy "rawness" of the image and the way in which all of the marvelous textures were captured and are presented here. This is an amazing work, and it makes me think of masks and their purposes. Is Mictectzuk's mask his own adaptation to Goblin culture, or does it serve some other symbolic purpose, perhaps something shamanistic? One can only wonder, guess, and extrapolate, and no matter what the answer might be, I'm sure that more questions might be raised, and that's what I love about stuff like this. I really like this image. Your work (as always) is top-notch stunning.

In total agreement with Chipka, Jocko500, RodS and others~ Amazing! So glad your (new?) friend captured your image!!! This is definitely a story you need to write down in at least short story form and send to a publisher! Love it!!! And you definitely have the Shaman look down! (Shamans and Goblins? Been playing WoW? Some of my alter-egos are goblins but never made a Shammy yet~) I wish Rendo had a "like" button similar to Facebook wherein we could not only click agreement on a posting but also click to be able to follow the comments on a posting. Like most, I don't often go back to a posting to see what people have later commented...mostly cause I can't recall where I want to see! Fantastic work on your costume and character, you are full of creativity!!! Maybe one day you will have your own booth and travel with the Renaissance Faire~ I think it would be an awesome fit!

I'm always impressed by your craftmanship on your costumes. This one certainly makes one sit up and take notice. Think I'd be a bit leery of this guy, though. I expect his mask is an aspect of his shamanistic rituals, symbol of his power as a shaman, or an attempt to look like the goblins--or perhaps all three! Cool summer? I'm afraid not! When it gets down to a cool 98 degrees F. around here, one considers putting on a sweater! Heh!
