Description

The Northern Rivers Region of New South Wales, has some of the most beautiful and isolated beaches and one of them is Kingscliff, after a lengthy birthday lunch (seafood) followed by a 'walk the pork' ... ;) I always seem to find something of interest there - here is 'Sponge Bob' - all washed up, he was one of my discoveries, after the previous stormy night. *** ps have had some hotmail hiccups lately and where nothing much went right, most frustrating - still not 100% fixed, but it's working ... only just! Spasmodic commenting on my behalf is the result, sorry friends ... Cheers Brigitte

Huh ? I thought he was square ? this one seems to have lost his pants and has sprouted a side-kick, well there you go, learn something new every day ! Digging the shadows and traces of the higher tide in the sand patterns, not to mention Sponge Bob look-a-like & little buddy, Gilligan !...LOL ~Cheers~

Awesome capture and wonderful description of your find Brigitte. Wonderful catch of the debris and patterns etched in the awesome looking sand. Sounds like you had a great lunch to boot...

This really is something very special, as the photo is taken in a very fine focus and way. I too love the ripples of the sand and the little holes that it makes. Fantastic colors too, so thank you for sharing, dear Brigitte. Good luck with your Internet.

'Sponge Bob' looks very cute in this lovely capture. Excellent light and shade and he looks to be having a great conversation with his little 'mate'. Amazing what you find on the beach. A great place to walk off your lunch.

alien life forms? sponge bob mutated by nuclear bomb tests? Collin watching too many japanese monster movies? (yeah, that'd be it....)... you have the coolest stuff washing up on your shores.... and another reason why you carry a camera with you at all times... serious cool capture!

So simple yet I love the shadows and the tracks in the sand created by the receding water rushing around 'Sponge Bob'. An excellent photo!

You're a lucky kid, Brigitte. We pay a lot of money for such a natural sponge and you can collect it. I've recently been thinking about you but I am so bothersome now not - (. Because of the hiccups) A hiccup can be as annoying as tinnitus and I not wish want it to anyone. Get well soon.... the sun in july wink

I'm trying to skip around, but I'm doing the very next image in line because this one jumped out at me immediately. I zoom everything, and this really comes to life in zoom: The textures of the sponges, the textures and folds in the sand, that hard bleached light and those deep shadows make this almost a sculpture, because the textures and contrasts are so strong and artistic. You got great light in this, not to mention texture. And I can tell you, for sure, that you'll NEVER see a sight like this off Lake Michigan: Nothing this big; and I don't know if sponges can live in those cold waters anyway. A beautiful solo shot of some creatures stranded on a beach. You got the feel and texture of it perfectly.
