Description

Captured 7/20/12, early in the morn, a couple of blocks from my potentially palatial place. Outstandingly ZOOM worthy. If anyone knows the make and model of these beauties, which grow on a bush, please let me know and I'll change the title. Ta-ta, thankx for popping in, and for any and all favs and noncritical comments. Update: Okay, according to Tara and Andrea, it's a variety of Nightshade. Hence, I've changed the title. Thanks, ladies!

I actually don't know these, Harry, but they sure are pretty. A fellow West Coaster may know this flower.

Wish I could tell you for sure; starfish or umbrellas come to mind! Seriously, I'm guessing some kind of clematis or hibiscus, but it's hard to tell without seeing the leaves. Whatever they are, they are beautiful and you got a really wonderful capture, Harry!

They are very beautiful flowers but I'm afraid I can't give you a name either, I need the leaves too. It is a super capture of them no matter what they are called.

It appears to be some variety of nightshade. That includes potato plants, by the way. Excellent image!

well this is my 8th in 2 hours, and I'm sure 8 of my verbose comments is a lot to swallow in one sitting lol. So I'll stop here. (In fact, I only came here to do your gallery today, and I'll be back soon. But no uploads from me today, just a visit to your gallery on this first RR trip in a few weeks...) God, it's a beautiful capture, with flattened petals curving away from us to show us their beauty. And your light and shadow makes the pair stand out beautifully. It's strong light, but you still get delicate detail in the lines, veins, etc. Also, nice strong contrasts in the stamens against the petals (the yellows against the purples, etc). Fascinating stuff behind, too...part of the background seems like bells or lanterns, like a pawn shop logo. (I'm talking about the buds above the right-most of the pair of flowers.) Beautiful full-face capture, where their nuance is made fully visible by you. I have comments waiting for a bunch of others, and I'll be back here soon. But it's been a pleasure. A really fine bouquet of photographs, Harry. As always, finding the world in your own backyard...
