Hi everybody,
My name is Dana Pommet and my wife’s name is Josephine. I was born in Gloucester, Massachusetts, in 1942, and except for a tour in the Navy, lived there for most of my life. I retired to Delray Beach, Florida in December 2000. We love to travel and photography goes hand and hand with that. I went digital about 5 years ago and started posting November 22, 2008. I have met so many wonderful people on RR and that makes this whole process so much more interesting than just posting photos. Thanks for all the comments and keep them coming.
Update  January 2012: After hiding and denying my mild Dyslexia, for most of my professional life, and now fighting with its advancement – I want to thank you all for putting up with my poor typing skills and spelling problems. I know that my spell checker hates me and I now depend completely on audio books rather then actually reading printed books.  Life marches on!  ÂÂ

When you see them relax in the sun or walking lazily, never imagined how quickly these guys can move when they attack. Excellent capture Dana! Our anniversary is on August 10, so you have been the first to congratulate us, thank you very much :)

Very interesting Dana. We have Saltwater Crocs over here but not alligators....I'm guessing the same level of caution applies to either!!!!!!

I have SO MUCH catching up to do in your gallery, but I figure this is a good place to start. And what a place! Alligator Central! I love seeing prehistoric lizards, although these guys (and gals) probably don't consider themselves to be prehistoric. I love the scaly detail and all of the alligator-ish glory of this shot. Wonderful details overall, and a great, somewhat menacing mood! These do look rather well fed, and somewhat smug, as Andrea noted. Brilliant shot!

They look really peaceful and innocent but I wouldn't want to get anywhere near them.

Oh, taken in 2008...I thought that maybe after they enlarged the pond near your house that these guys had moved in, LOL!!! Great pics!! And yes, they do look VERY well fed!!! Wishing you an air-conditioned weekend!!

Oh, terrific clarity, composition and skin textures in this outstanding capture of that handsome bunch, out there warming their innards, Dana. Everytime I see or hear the word alligator I think of shoes for some reason. Incidentally, this reminds me of several similar shots I have of turtles sitting on rafts, warming themselves in the sun. And thanks for the information on the alligators.
