Description

When Loki discovered that the mistletoe had been excluded, he made an arrow out of it's boughs. As the gods were making merry with Baldr, tossing all manner of things at him that they knew could not harm him, old blind Hoor stood alone. Loki approached and asked why he did not honor his brother by attempting to harm him. Hoor replied that he had neither a weapon to cast nor the sight to cast it. Loki furnished him both, and Baldr fell dead when struck with the mistletoe arrow. Hoor, realizing too late what he had done, fled. This proved his undoing, as it made the act a murder rather than an accident, and a murder demands justice. Needless to say, Loki took off as well. Poor old Hoor, what a perfect patsy.... I meant to post this link with last nights' picture, but forgot. This is the music that got me thinking about this series. If you like good music, take a listen. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gekHV9DIjHc&feature=youtu.be Thanks for looking and all your comments, always love to read what you think, and thanks also for your all the art you share. And of course, Zoom for best view

An interesting jump from that song to this set, Seth. I guess I can see it. Life in Asgard would have been paradise without Loki, wouldn't it? Then again, there were some good things that happened due to his 'mischief'...now and then. The tale of him cutting Sif's hair also applies to this season. Baldur almost looks as if he has a premonition here. It was pretty low, the trick Loki pulled on Hodur (as I know him). A moral to the story: don't freak out if you do something accidentally. I'm sure this had some relevance back then. May have applied to Eric the Red, who also ended up running - but no one is really quite sure what happened there. This is a splendid image, as was the first and thank you so much for sharing this bit of myth with us, Seth! Beautiful composition and colors, not to mention great posing!
