Description

The tram stop near my home is 'Trieste', from the name of the street crossing the Corso del Popolo (People's Boulevard)where the tram stop is located. Padova has always been a 'White' town, meaning governed by the Cristian Democracy (as opposite to the 'Red' towns governed by the Communist Party) until the 1990, when a coalition of center-left (present day's Partito Democratico, formed by ex Christian Democrats and ex Communist Party) won the elections and have more or less continually governed the town for twenty years. A popular rumour says that the mayor (a former communist) and the bishop are first cousins. They swear it isn't true, but whether true or not, it's a popular voice which tries to explain why the bishop is the real power behind the mayor's throne. Thanks for your kind comments.

i see you have a dhl pickup/drop nearby. crazy story about DHL spain. years ago when we lived in the urbanization in our chalet,i had a creditcard coming to spain from luxembourg. the driver could not find the adress and he dropped it in the neighbouring village in front of the police station. police contacted me to pick the card up. i was glad the asshole did not put it in the trashcan.how stupid can people be. i think he got sacked after i complained at the bank and on dhl.useless sob.

A wonderful street scene. I love your narrative. The Communist and the Bishop? Only in Europe. Here in America, anyone to the left of Mussolini is considered a Communist by the Conservatives these days.

very colorful street capture and local politics. "priests" are often a big part of politics. in the Philippines they are even behind terrorist activities
