Description
Ohhhh Chip, I'd love to go back to Volo Bog! I was there in January (when it was pretty frozen and didn't move much) and in mid April, when things were blooming and turning green. The walkways were much more mobile, you'd sway and dip a bit while walking them. It was marvelous. And I did touch a toe to the mossy stuff just to see how sturdy it really was. It looked a lot more stable than it is. With three camersa slung about myself I was very careful to not put a lot of weight on that toe.
They have most interesting and strange plantlife there. Some of them endangered (as in this pitcher plant), some only grow in bog environments.
Perhaps we could plan a trip there soon? I'd really enjoy seeing you and Corey again, and anyone else we can convince to join in the jaunt.
Thanks for looking and your comments
FYI, anyone who is interested, Volo Bog is in the north east part of Illinois.

WOW! WOW! Is that a pitcher plant? Or one of those carnivorous plants with liquid inside? What colors! I've only ever been there once, but I didn't get to go far! I'm really looking forward to going back (with a camera!) and the kind of good company people who would actually like walking around on a somewhat mobile, at least moderately squishy bog! This is a gorgeous shot! I really like the colors on that one plant, though it looks like you found a nice bed of them. Thank you for this! I love it. I had no idea these plants had such an interesting texture: it kinda reminds me of book leather. This is super!!! Truly amazing! Oh, and if you have more bog shots, feel free to post 'em! Eh, just post anything you like! It's all so good!

I am in awe of these carnivorous plants, with those prey-trapping mechanism features - the unusual colour (to me) gives this one a mysterious feel, I imagine it to feel like alien skin ;) what a lovely and soft image Yvonne, BB
