Description

Holly just captured this image of these baby birds in my hands. The parents have been nesting about three feet of of our deck, up in the lilac bush about 4 feet off the ground, for weeks now. We went out to feed our koi and the momma bird was having a fit! Sadly, the babies bailed out of the nest. One landed in our koi pond and I ran down to rescue it. The other landed on the ground and I picked that one up too. Contrary to what many people believe, birds DO NOT abandon their chicks if they smell human scent on their babies. Birds have VERY limited sense of smell and DO NOT abandon their babies if they smell humans on them. So, we HOPE these babies and their momma will be happily reunited and they will fledge and grow up to have babies of their own. Can you guess what kind of birds these are?

maybe Sparrows? there was some doves with a nest in my gutter and when I was taking a picture of them they(2) jumped out and fell to the ground. I put them back and the next day they left the nest for good. for several weeks a dove kept hanging around my house.I like to think that they felt a connection

Hehe - well, since I have an inside track, I won't spoil everyone's fun guessing. Just remember - ugly babies often grow up to be beautiful adults... Very cool shot, Mike! I hope they make it and live a long life! Glad you rescued them, buddy!

Grabbing at straws...sparrows. I am probably totally wrong. If I could see the adult MAYBE a better ID. Sweet and gentle hold you have on them. Good of you to take the time for rescues. I love to watch our birds around here, but have seen few babies to know one from another (seen one baby bird, you've seen them all - lol ). ;o)

I would guess that they're cardinals, but the Pats don't play them this week - lol I just looked up to see who your Pats face - Tenn. - good start.... I watched some NFL videos, the Pats haven't won the championship in 8 years??? since Spygate??? wow... This is the year of the Bronos - they are sharing it with the dragon - lol. ...I picked up Welker as my 3rd Fantasy Pick - I hope that drop in the Superbowl has him fired up this year - and I hope Brady's Wife stays clear of him - lol.... Are you ready for some football???!!
