Description

APO Undiscovered. PLEASE SEE FULL SCALE This was a hoot to create! It all started with the center, uh, flowering plant like thing. Couldn’t figure out what to do with it. I tried adding a landscape… nope. Tired adding brush, some trees, grass… uh-uh. After looking at it for a while, I thought of the APO fractal I used in my work titled: “They mostly come out at night… Mostly.” I liked the coloring and lighting on that fractal, so, I dropped the new plant like fractal, adjusted the drop shadow and bevel on the plant (very little added to this one), then dropped in my previous fractal and re-sized it, rotated it, and positioned it. That was great for the left side of the plant, but what about that large blank section on the right. After fiddling for a time, I decided to simply make a duplicate of the one on the left, flip it around, re-size and position it, and liked what I saw. The scene still needed something. I went online to Flickr (as usual) and found an image of a Blue Crane I liked. The image is by: exfordy, and I am using it under the Creative Commons License. If your interested, this is the link to the Blue Crane: http://www.flickr.com/photos/exfordy/2967158255/ The Crane image has a lot in the background, so, I used the Extract tool in Photoshop to eliminate the background. I dropped the cleaned up version of the Crane into the scene, scaled and positioned it, darkened it down just a tad to match the rest of the lighting, then, hoping I had positioned the Crane in the right spot… added the water filter. Got to tell you, my jaw dropped when the water showed up, just as you see it in the finished scene. I’m so new at all this, I got really excited and ran in to get Sasha to show her what I had done. She loves it! That alone made my entire day :) Thank you so much for taking the time to view and read all this, and for your continued support and encouragement. Glenn.

zoom required - very cool ideas you pulled them off super good. I'm enjoying the dark setting and how the bird and feather fractal compliment each other. And as you mentioned, the water just tied everything together and made it look real/surreal. Well done!
