Description
Even though the white pine at this view point is overly photographed, I decided to shoot from this vantage to show two things. The northern exposure of Wizard Island still under snow Secondly, on the bottom right corner, a fine example of the hardships of survival here. The trees have been folded over by the crushing weight of all that snow.
Average snowfall 44 feet(13.4 meters), greatest cumulative snowfall was in the winter of 1932-33 at 73 feet( 22.25 meters). This is an image from late June, and it was a minimal snow year!

Yeah, its not like they can move to a better location. I remember the trees here. Their branches were growing in all sorts of bizarre directions. I missed this angle. Terrific image.

What a shot! Everything grinds to a halt here if we have two inches.

Holy cow, 73-44 feet of snow? No wonder there's still snow lying about. Poor little tree. Looks like it's just his 'shell' now. Rough place to grow up!

A superb illustration Dana and I always marvel at the way they seed their selves find sustenance and grow so big. That is a lot of snow!

Oh wow Dana, I can see why it is so overly photographed from that spot. Dead are a particular favourite photographic subject of mine but this is just wonderful with the lake and mountains in the background.

Stellar shot. That tree is so interesting, and more than that, the roots are captivating. With such an over all gorgeous shot, it is intriguing to look closely and find it has beauty, but it also has a loud warning.
