Description
This is one of my bonsai trees about 2ft high (60cm)and very scruffy. Not a classic species for bonsai, but a handsome one I think. I have let it grow wildly to see those unusual flowers ( see inset for detail of flower). I do like bonsai trees that have flowers as well as interesting shape and foliage. Their are many of you that will know this tree. It looks like a copper beech with tassels on. A relative of the more familiar witch hazel as the flowers show. These do not flower on bare stems but at the end of leafy shoots. I hope Andrea is still guessing?

We have the standard version of these plants in the state Capitol park and I love to see the blooms - like pink streamers pour from a branch. Outstanding shot.
