Description

After looking out for these for years on Rosebay willowherbs when out walking, nothing. Today one fell from a Smoke bush in my garden. I chose this view to show it's "eyes" and bulbous dummy head. They wave it about jerking to scare off predators. Their real head is quite small and is pulled in so not to ruin the effect. It is as long and as thick as my middle finger! This is a large file, zoom if required.

Excellent Kevin. Something I have not yet encountered. Thanks for the tip on their love of the fireweed Rosebay willow herb, I will look more closely in future :)
