Hello! My name is Jodie. I live in Minnesota where the temps can fluxuate by 20 degrees in one day. Most of my photos have been taken very close to my home, a 10 acre hobby farm., where I raise Alpacas and chickens. I am a band director, a musician/singer and a photographer/adviser on the yearbook committee. My camera of choice is a Nikon. I have a D90 and a D70. I also have a SB800 flash and favorite lens is Nikon 18-200mm AF-S, with VR. Revisiting the visual arts is something I should have done years ago. If I see something remarkable, I just try to capture it. Nobody else will ever see it quite that way again so I hope you try that, too. This is just like expensive therapy for us.  Thank you for visiting and may you have a peaceful day!Â

Cool shot.

Wow! I cringe a bit when looking down the muzzle of a gun or the point of an arrow -- mostly worrying about what might have happened to the camera user had things gone wrong. But a fantastic picture none the less.

It is very cool by you. 5+! Thanks.

Great POV!, so long as she doesn't draw! Cool postwork too!

I wouldn't have felt very comfortable either. The risks some photographers will take to get an interesting shot! It came out very well, though - I really like the intensity of this young woman, the monochrome treatment & the light...

I don't blame you for not feeling comfortable, lol. I'd be using a timer or remote... Brave person you are...Nice shot of her. Aloha

Fabulous shot. I am worried about her hooked finger over the shaft. If she let fly like that, she could do damage to herself. :-)

Nice portrait.

Robin Hoodette. Cool focus and composition in this menacing image, Jodie. Reminds me of something out of the new television series, Revolution.

I just re-read Frank Herbert's short, pre-Dune novel, The Santaroga Barrier and in it, there's a description of a near-accident involving a child, an arrow, and the person the arrow was pointed at. I immediately thought of that, though I saw the immediate take on The Hunger Games. I like the concept and execution of this, and I love the way it actually stands apart from the movie/book references that are so popular! This is a marvelous work of its own, and the mark of both a brave photographer and a good archer! One never releases a cocked arrow until it is absolutely necessary! Brilliant shot!

Yes, if it is done right she would not be drawing the bow and the viewer cannot tell the difference!

Awesome job here Jodie. Your daughter really captures the Katniss character well here. I recently finished listening to all three novels on audiobook.

Lots of space in a very cloistered shot. And lots of implied movement. I agree with the other comments, you've really captured a fine moment, with energy and presence and latency and love. (Latency as in the energy about to be released.) I've shot thunderstorms approaching, and felt like I was about to be demolished; but they were a long ways away: This is right in the line of fire. You got a wonderful expression in Megan's face, and I love the hair over one eye. (I know nothing of the movie, unfortunately, so I can't compare this with that, the way others, here, have.) And your lighting is spot on, for its intimate feel and glow. (Glow appropriate for someone you love so much.) And from your years of portrait work, you obviously know how to pose someone and still capture spontaneity. Beautiful work on every score.

you are a brave AND talented mother....
