Description
Anybody who's read Kishiro's "Gunnm" (aka "Battle Angel Alita" in the US) will find this a familiar sight. Alita ("Gally" in the original Japanese is a total conversion cyborg (organic brain and spinal column encased within a roboric chassis) living in a post apocalyptic society bitterly called the "Scrapyard", a shanty town beneath the floating city Typhares. The cybersurgeon Dr. Ido finds Alita among the trash, little more than a dismembered head and torso and retaining next to no memories of her previous life. After she's repaired, Alita discovers she has innate martial arts skills perfected for cyborgs, the "Panzer Kunst". To make her way in this dystopian society, Alita uses these abilities to become a licensed bounty hunter. The fact she is so skilled in this fighting technique troubles her. Just who was she before she lost her memories? Why was she discarded like so such garbage?
The base figure is Aiko 3 with facial morphs from the Sylphie set. The various hardware (the framework, the piping, the background plate) come from several Coflek-Gnorg sets. The hair is the free Paris Hair, once again available (now at ShareCG). The cyborg body texture is Lokai2000's. Alita's iconic facial "bands" were derived from the M3 Bishonen package at DAZ. (It had just 1 "band", so I copied and flipped it to create the other.)

Back in the day she was my dream girl. I have the original Viz comics up to Vol 3 (when she became a Tuned agent). An excellent rendition of her!

Nicely done. That picture reminds me of another story (a movie actually). Cyborg 2: Glass Shadow. I loved that movie. At the start of the movie they showed the lead female character being assembled. That's what that picture reminds me of. She was created to be a perfect assassin. She looked beautiful. She looked like a perfect human woman. She acted like a perfect human woman. When her class of assassin got their target alone, they exploded. I think the cyborgs were created not to know that weren't human and to be unaware of their mission. They were beautiful bombs that you could sleep with and still not know that they weren't human afterwards; then boom! But this cyborg was different. She was stolen (saved) and she fell in love before she could be programed to begin her mission. The movie was about love. It was about a Cyborg discovering her humanity. She crossed over to being human (sort of). She fell in love. And it was about the thief who stole her trying to save the beautiful cyborg from being blown up. It was a great science fiction love story. :) It had an explosive ending but not like you'd think. No I'm not going to give the ending away. :) I just watched Battle Angel Alita on Youtube. It was probably different from the book but it was nice anime anyway. Edward Fox
