Description

MERCI MAGIK ___________________________________________ FUJI-YAMA The pressure of magma rises ! Japanese geophysicists say, after the earthquake of 11 March 2011, the magma chamber beneath Mount Fuji seen the pressure rise due to tectonic new. What trigger a volcanic eruption ... But, so far, no sign appears now. March 11, 2011, a magnitude 9 earthquake off Japan caused a few hours later, a terrible tsunami. According to a group of researchers at the National Research Institute for Earth Science and Disaster Prevention of Japan, tectonic movements induced in the region of Mount Fuji have raised the pressure on the magma chamber of the country's iconic stratovolcano of the Rising Sun . Located in the center of the island of Honshu near the east coast, it is the highest mountain in Japan with its 3776 m. Manifestation of subduction volcanism, Mount Fuji is dotted with cinder cones characteristic of Strombolian type eruptions. According to geophysicists, the pressure on the walls of the magma chamber feeding the eruptions of Mount Fuji is now 1.6 megapascals or 15.8 kilograms per square centimeter. The pressure is enormous: it is 16 times the threshold value known as a volcanic eruption to occur. Of course, Mount Fuji shows no sign of recovery of its activity and emission of lava, in addition, the amount of magma in the chamber does not seem enough for such an event is triggered. However, its last eruption in December 1707, 49 days after a major earthquake, does seem to have resulted in a similar increase in tectonic stress on its magma chamber. Caution is therefore required. Mount Fuji, bristling with dozens of seismometers and GPS sensors is monitored 24 hours 24. In 2004, the Japanese government estimated that this volcanic eruption affect more than 700,000 people, including the Tokyo area. THANKS MAGIK ______________________________
