So cool!! Whenever possum mothers are road killed their sweet babies stay in the pouch....Then people bring them to me to raise....It always makes me smile between the bottle-feeding and their evil hiss....But I know they appreciate it:)

Nice capture. Not sure if this is a young one or a different type of possum than our American variety, but I had a nasty run in with a couple of possums one time. Our dogs cornered the pair behind a storage shed in out yard & I tried to force them out with a broom handle. One of them grabbed the broom in his teeth & fought a tug of war with me for several minutes, snarling the whole time. They have very sharp teeth & powerful jaws! We finally had to call animal control to trap them & take them away...

A much more pleasant looking version of it's American cousin. photosynthesis is right, the American version are mean stubborn little buggers. Great capture.

In answer to "Wonderworld" The first time I heard the evil hiss of a possum was way back in 1964. I had just arrived in Australia from England. I was laying in bed when something scuffled across the roof of our Nissan Hut, which was followed by the most scariest noise I have ever heard. I was surprised that such a noise could come from this cute creature. In answer to "Photosynthesis" I'm sure these Australian possums could give a nasty nip but their evil hiss is all bluff (unless your another Possum) My mum used to hand feed the ones in her garden. The one pictured only gave me a portrait sitting of 5 shots before it climbed up a tree and disappeared. Thank you everybody for your comments, they are always welcome.
