Description
This is a middle aged female gorilla that I caught watching the children that were passing her enclosure. The wall in front of her was the edge of the deep, water filled moat that separated the humans from the gorillas in this exhibit. Photo taken at the Walt Disney World�s Animal Kingdom. Taken with my old trusty Minolta,many years ago. Zoom works well here!

I wonder what she is thinking, and I wonder if she is still alive. I have experienced looking into the eyes of a male gorilla, a beluga whale and an orca, each from very close. I saw understanding and reason in each of those eyes, and I have always remembered it.

animals have emotion too... you said she was watching the children, she looks sad... I wonder if she had offsprings and they took them away - I went through a divorce a decade ago, I know how heartbreaking it can be to lose your kids... that's what I see when I look at this. Great shot.
