Description

Title from a Doors song - "Wild Child"*. Background is a photo. I had to blow this up. This caused some jpeg-i-ness that I had to smooth out of the sky and I had to adjust the contrast and saturation (PShop). But basically, you just import it in as your background picture and render over it, Dan. But save it as a .png where you only have your figure(s). Then go into your art program and paste the background pic over the .png, then drag it under the .png and make your adjustments, then merge the layers. I would also suggest that before you apply the background pic, that you duplicate your .png at least 2 or 3 times so the hair is less transparent. This is esp. true with the Yannis hair and the dreds. The background usually doesn't render as well as the original picture, which is why I do it this way. I don't know about other people. As I said, the tricky part is getting your lighting on your figure to match the background! This one wasn't so bad as far as that went because it's just one big glow from all the light pollution. It depends on the background you use. Hope that helps Dan! Chopper is custom textured by me. ***** Thanks for stopping by my gallery, and for your comments, favs and views of my last post! Much appreciated. The girl on the right in particular was inspired by the works of Luis Falero. He did very lovely nude ladies. Hope your week is going well! Cheers, Rayvn *Wild Child Wild child full of grace Savior of the human race Your cool face Natural child, terrible child Not your mother's or your father's child Your our child, screamin' wild An ancient lunatic reigns In the trees of the night Ha, ha, ha, ha With hunger at her heels Freedom in her eyes She dances on her knees Pirate prince at her side Starin' into The hollow idols eyes Wild child full of grace Savior of the human race Your cool face Your cool face Your cool face Do you remember when we were in Africa?

It may have been inspired by the awesome Doors, but the image instantly makes me think of Stepnwolf :) I think I have an old image of my Sonya on chopper. Maybe I'll post it and they can go cruising together? LOL! Cool work.

Another way is to have the bg you are going to use set as you 'import bg image', then save as a png. The image doesn't show in your render, but it has the right colors so there are no 'jaggies' on your png. Then choose your png hit 'select all', then 'select all' on your jpg bg & choose 'paste INTO image/selection'. Make sure you have a new raster layer set for it, but don't paste it as a new layer. It will place the png exactly where you had it set in the render. You can also do this for casting shadows that don't render right & for adding hair & clothing, etc, in post work. ") Love this one, btw. ")

Great character! I love all the insights too. But I think I would have to pay you to do all those steps for me. :) LOL. Perfect song too! I love any live version of either "The End" or "When The Music's Over". Robby Krieger plays his ass off. Yeah! Did you ever see the clip of them on The Ed Sullivan Show when he has the black eye? LOL. I think that's when Jim agreed not to sing the word "higher" in Light My Fire too. Heh heh heh. Sure, Ed. No problem. You can trust me. LMAO! Great render and fun upload!

Really awesome work, Ray, and a great dedication to Dan! I'm sure he'll love it! Lots of good info here, too. I absolutey agree - getting the lighting of your rendered figures is tricky and the single most important aspect of compositing your rendered figures to match an existing BG. Superb work and compositing here! "Get on your bikes and RIDE!" :-D

Super work. I think I mostly render .png when I want to use a photo background, because, as you said, the rendered verison is less clear and in PS you have more option. Indeed, the hardest thing is making sure lighting/shadowing match the render. Ambient lighting and/or multiple lighting scenes are a little easier. Also Allosaurus is indeed a theropod and carnivore and Diplodocus is a sauropod and herbivore :) The one we knew as Brontosaurus as kids is now Apatosaurus.
