In the year 2525, 325 years after the meteor that struck earth and killed the entire planet, leaving no sunlight for two hundred years. mankind new that day was coming from the observatorys, the US and other countries prepared for this dreaded day 75 years in advance by digging underground and building cities and glass dome farmlands, they all had enough to last a lifetime if need being.
Only military personel, goverment officials, and lottery drawn winnners for general public got to be chosen to survive the outcome. about 2 million worldwide made it.
The earth is 78% dry with dead lands, only 22% of lakes, oceans and vegetation land now exsist.
oxygen on the earth is thick and plenty. a steady orange atmosphere creeps across the globe daily, sunlight in most parts of the world is only about 180 days a year after the meteor.
Suppy ships that were bought from cyberdoc industries before the crash carry cargo and building supplies to rebuild on the surface again.
small meteors pass by a few times a month and sometimes strike with little force. military police are used to keep order with the public.
everybody works to earn their keep and rebuild above ground to form a new america.
The president of the new america is Mike Anderson, elected underground 2 years ago and will serve a 18 year term in office. his rebuilding will form and shape the new country.

Seriously!!! Not much of a writer? This is great. The composition of the scene is a perfect illustration of the story. And the story wouldske a great movie plot. Worth investing a screen write.
