Description

(Title inspired by an old Bo Diddley song.) The Doctor wasn't exactly the sort of low-life he appeared to be. He'd been a straight-A student all through school. Certain people took notice of this. He was recruited into the Special Forces and had served nearly two years before the war broke out. In that time, he'd advanced to a lieutenant. He didn't like the military particularly, but in these times it was possibly a stepping stone to other things. He could play the game. He'd been promised if he did well, those certain people were interested in him. As the war progressed, he rose to Lieutenant Colonel and then Colonel for his bravery, and his cunning strategies. He was known as 'Black Bart' because well...that was his name and no one got past him. He did what he did very well. Daniella, Frank, Denise and Sarah had served with him. They were a tight group and worked well together. The girls knew how to play their parts very well, and Frank was the muscle. He was still in the military, on reserve - and those 'certain people' had contacted him. To say they were 'in bed' with the military-industrial complex was to put it mildly. The troupe was a front for a few different but related things. He gave the orders there, but there were others who gave him orders and it all trickled down. And orders had come. It was time to pack up and move along to another place - one even more dangerous than this one...Motor City. The UG Transport would be coming for them soon. ***** If anyone feels so inclined, I'd like an honest opinion on his goatee. It's more like heavy 5 o'clock shadow with a soul-patch than an actual goatee on purpose. Thanks for looking and your comments dear friends! I hope you're having a splendid weekend and enjoying some nice weather! Nah, Alex - Frank doesn't have bolts in his head, but Sarah appears to :) You haven't met her yet. And then there's Denise. Cheers to you all! Ray

So he leads a travelling troupe that goes from place to place and sorts things out? Cool! He sounds like a Fixer. Beard? It does look more like stubble than cultivated beard, but if that's what you were aiming for then it works.

If I were to judge this book I would say he's a tough guy with a soft spot somewhere deep inside. The hat gives away the soft spot. Great face and skin and the hair came out especially good. As for the goatee; I'd say the beard and mustache part look more like a beard and mustache than 5 o'clock shadow. The soul patch certainly stands out more, but the other facial hair is too dark to be shadow or unclean shaven IMHO. As it is it looks fine for the standard 'stache' and goatee. Wonderful portrait.

LOL! It's me again. I said I use a "bird" trimmer instead of a "beard" trimmer. LMAO!!! :) Let me start again .... Great story twist and awesome portrait! The goatee looks just fine, imo. I hate being clean shaven. But a full beard starts feeling dirty after a week or so. So I use a BEARD trimmer - LOL - to take it down to a shadow. Rinse and repeat. LOL. Tremendous work!!!

I just knew these was more to this guy than meets the eye. He has that certain 'something' that makes him perfect for spec-ops. A superb portrait and history, Ray. I think his goatee is perfect as it is - it just seems to fit him better than a longer one. Looking forward to 'meeting' his companions.

Oh this is fantastic! I had to check it out. September 6th I uploaded an image (far worse than this lol) using almost the exact same title to the Bo Diddly song. So, I had to check it out...and I love it! WOW! I LOVE the hair you used here...I've so got to invest in M4 hair. I love the look on this guys face. Your lighting sets the mood...wow amazing post!!! Thank you for sharing your excellent and awesome art!

That's more than a five o clock shadow by a few days. I like him and the story that goes with him too.
