Description
During my safari adventure I heard many Kenyans refer to Africa as "the Motherland". I found this to be a touching characterization. The place where they were born. The land that sustains them. What a fitting name.
In putting this series together, however, old memories were revived. I remembered how at ease I felt and how warm the people were. It was almost as if I had come home.
I was recently reminded of something I had read years ago on the findings of Louis and Mary Leakey at Olduvai Gorge and of Raymond Dart in South Africa. Their research and that of others into the early history of humanity has lead to the strong evidence that Homo Sapiens first arose in Africa and, from there, spread throughout the world. If this is true then we are all Africans and Africa really is the Motherland.
To all those who visited and, especially to those who left their kind comments, thank you for taking this journey with me. It has been very much appreciated.

So beautiful! The work of Spencer Wells is backing up those theories. There's something about Africa ... the landscape ... that seems to touch my bones. Thank you for this trip. It's been a joy to follow along!
