I am a developing artist working on improving my abilities to create beautiful digital landscape compositions. Without the help and suggestions of the many fellow artists in this community, it would be a long time before I reach the next level.
BIO
I am a retired procurement professional who has long had an interest in photography and painting; and, lately in computers and photorealistic natural landscapes. I hope to become more proficient and perfect my abilities to produce acceptable work. My experience in art started at a very early age when I would spend many hours sketching and painting. I had instruction at The Art Institute in Chicago, Illinois. I did some freelance work for Flying Models, Model Airplane News and Top Flite Models creating plans and illustrative construction sequences for magazines and kit models. I had spent more than 20 years designing, building and flying radio controlled model airplanes...a very rewarding hobby for me. During the 1970s, I spent 11 years in the hobby of "bonsai"; the Japanese art of miniature trees. In my first 7 tree entry in a contest, all 7 trees were awarded ribbons in various categories. Japanese landscaping became a passion for me where I completed a 3 year project creating a Japanese landscape around my home in Oak Forest, Illinois. I also did this work for several other people in our community. In 1987 I moved to Phoenix, Arizona where I currently make my home. The love of the American southwest and all its beauty is where I wanted to spend the rest of my life. Now that we have computers, digital cameras; and, Terragen; I'll have enough to do for a long, long time.

Super scale in this. Very nicely done.

scaling is awesome

Not only the scaling, but the lighting is very well done! It gives that real world lighting and makes everything realistic!! Excellent piece of work, Bob!!!

Impressive looking! if you don't mind a little realism critique: usually sequoia grow somewhat closer together to the point where the ferns don't get much light, the ground is less rocky (feels spongy really), and the ferns are thicker - usually you have trouble walking through them ... I'm just sayin cause I live up here with 'em ;D ... but artistically i like it alot, the tiny person is just about right, maybe even a little too big ;)

Great rocks and trees. The person looks like it has green hair, or is covered with green metal on the upper body as well. LOL It's a beautiful scene.

A super nice image. The base of the front tree seems a bit straight edged...I don't know how you could change it or what to do to make it look more rugged or broken up. The base of the far trees look fine....hmmm??? Still a very cool image!!!

Fantastic image! Beautiful lighting. Yes, maybe some grass around the front tree to mask that straight line? Corrie
