Thanks for the comments. Glad to hear I've made progress on lighting. It's the default Carrara scene light, plus a Spot positioned in front of them, with the Spot's intensity set pretty low. As promised, here's Jade's story. She is my character in a playtest for the beta version of the newest Star Wars role-playing game, by the way. But the image works for just about any SF setting. Lady Jade hails from the Tapani Expanse, a feudal sector of the galaxy. She's the daughter of Lord Cayde and his comoner significant other, L'Nore. Up til now, 16 year old Jade hasn't had much to worry about, except perhaps intergalactic high fashion. But--her parents have agreed to betroth her to a young Lordling that they have despised and distrusted for years. Yet, now he's a wonderful man, who'll make a great husband. Even a teenager can see there's something odd going on. And her fiance' may be good-looking but he also creeps her out. Worse, during the betrothal negotiations, Jade learns that Lord Cayde isn't her biological father! Before she and Cayde got together, L'Nore was involved with the prodigal son of another Tapani noble House. Even though Cayde clearly loves Jade as she was his own child, Jade is hurt and angered by her parents for concealing the information. So what does a hurt, confused teenage girl do when faced with scary news about her past and a future husband who must be up to no good? Especially in an adventure roleplaying game? She runs away to some planet that's almost as backwater as Luke Skywalker's Tattooine. Jade has a vague plan to locate her biological father, even though she has only his alias surname of Morningfire to go on. She's certain to find friends--my fellow players' characters--who are also running, searching &/or hiding. Jade also has another friend along on her adventure, Merry, although I'm not yet sure what he is. Daz3D says he's a Faery Dragon, but Jon/Donovan calls him an "overgrown dragonfly." Here, Jade is taking a break from ship maintenance to feed & play with Merry. All the cool S-F girls can repair starships, you know. A few credits. As I mentioned in the first post, my old friend Jon "Donovan Morningfire" Stevens allowed me to use the Morningfire name & also helped with the details of Jade's story. In addition to the HeroShip Cockpit, I used 3DC's wrist computer freebie. Other gadgets in the scene are from Nightshift3D's Sci-fi tools set at Daz 3d. The Hyperspace Effect (described in various Star Wars novels as blue & white swirls) visible in the viewport is simply one of Anagord's Saten Textures, available free here at Renderosity, used as a backdrop.

Your best Carrara render yet :) your definately making progress with being more familiar with Carrara/ Therers even a bit of soft shadows going on!

You are so good with Carrara. This is a wonderful sci-fi story and equally wonderful scene. A pure delight to see.
