Description
Back in the spring I posted several pictures of the Spillway's shallow but wild & roaring waters. This is how it looked in early August during a sunset hike with my son, after several months of severe drought.
The bottom of the Spillway is rock, mostly shale (I think!) and is quite nice to walk on, if your wearing shoes. My son and I like to walk down the Spillway bed when it's dry, in fact.
I was surprised at how much the rock resembled the water that was once flowing through. And I suspect when we hike up there this weekend, there will be some real water after the rain from Hurricane Isaac that has been falling since Thursday night.

Oh my! It's hard to imagine how quickly it changed. It's kinda scary to see it like this however. I'm glad Isaac sent you some well needed rain. I like the way the sun is peeking over the hill, it feels ominous. Great shot.

Thanks for all the comments. We were in the right place at the right time. Ominous, you say? I keep telling my family I will use a shot of this place when it's dry as a backdrop when I need a desolate alien world. Maybe this should be the one?
